Audemars Piguet’s formidable and groundbreaking Minute Repeater Supersonnerie is renowned for its amazing acoustics and stunning good looks. The remarkable volume and rich tone of the repeating is provided by the ingenious patented ‘Supersonnerie’ case construction, with the repeater gongs mounted on a sound board covered by the perforated case back. Both highly impressive and extremely elegant, with a smoked blue ‘Grand Feu’ enamel gradué dial that is absolutely stunning, the hour markers are applied in 18k white gold, a lacquered black inner bezel carries the minute numerals.
Perhaps the most significant aspect of the Code 11.59 Supersonnerie is the hand-wound caliber 2953 which utilizes technology perfected in 2016. The minute repeating mechanism is one of the most difficult of all complications for watchmakers to produce and the Supersonnerie movement is a hugely significant achievement of watchmaking at the very highest level. The overall movement aesthetic gives a distinct nod to historic movements of the early 20th century, the finishing as expected is exceptional, the plates decorated with perlage and the bridges with Geneva stripes.
Code 11.59 was launched by Audemars Piguet in 2019 and featured a radically different design aesthetic and launched several new in-house movements. The Code 11.59 family includes a wide range of selections in both material and complications. The present Code 11:59 Supersonnerie was awarded one of watchmaking's highest accolades when it won the GPHG's Men's Complication prize in 2019.
