Acquired at the above sale by Arnold and Anne Ulnick Gumowitz.

This work will be included in the forthcoming Auguste Rodin catalogue critique de l'oeuvre sculpté currently being prepared by the Comité Rodin under the archive number 2003V363B.

專家說明

The present subject, eponymous of the Brussels neighborhood where Rodin lived between 1871 and 1877, shows two young children in an embrace—a baby boy is holding on to a winged standing little girl with outstretched arms. The sentimentality and delicate handling of the subject recall the fashionable 18th-century style sculptures of the period.
This cast is the only known example of Idylle d'Ixelles in this size. There is a large version measuring 22 in. (55.9 cm.) in height.
