專家說明
French in style, influenced by the designs of the Parisian goldsmith Thomas Germain, published in his Elements d'orfèvrerie, Paris, 1748, these sauceboats are almost identical to a set of sixteen silver-gilt examples in the Royal Collection, also by Heming, dated 1761-1762, exhibited, London, The Queen's Gallery, George III & Queen Charlotte, Patronage, Collecting and Court Taste, 2004, pp. 322-4, cat. no. 339. The form was made by Heming from the 1750s as shown by a pair of 1758 sold Christie's London, 23 June 1971 and a pair of 1756, sold Christie's, New York, 26 January 2010, lot 118.
