專家說明

From its inception in 1895 through to World War II, the New York firm established by Edward F. Caldwell (d.1914) and partner Victor E. Von Lossberg (d.1942), was the premier American designer and manufacturer of custom lighting fixtures, metalwork and decorative objects. The design for this humidor (A-9543) was registered sometime between 1906 and 1908. Bearing the engraved maker's plaquette for 'Edward F. Caldwell & Co. New York', manufacture of the present lot can also be said to predate 1916 when the firm was incorporated.
