Custom-made pieces, known as HSS bags, feature a special horseshoe stamp to the left of the Hermès stamp inside the bag. The special custom-made service is offered to only a select number of top collectors. For each leather and each season Hermes designates which colors will be offered in which leathers. Hermès lists which specific leathers will be used for each design feature such as linings and handles. This bespoke creations typically take six months or more to arrive.

Alligator is originated from Mississippi, USA. The scales of the skin are more irregular, and the gaps between the scales are more obvious. The scales in the center are more square and the sides are more rounded. There are no small spots on the scales of the skin.
