專家說明
At the Royal Academy exhibitions of 1792 to 1795, Francis Wheatley contributed a number of paintings London street sellers in a group entitled The Cries of London. The paintings were then engraved, with funding from Colnaghi & Co., and sold as a print series. The Milk Below Maids was first engraved by Luigi Schiavonetti. The series was popular, so much so in fact that the print plates were worn out, forcing Colnaghi & Co. to have a new set produced.
