專家說明
The reverse inscription indicates that this theorem was painted by Ellen Buck (1802-1865), who is listed in Reading, Vermont as a tailor and seamstress in the 1850 and 1860 Federal Census records respectively. The work was presumably owned by her first cousin once removed, Eunice Williams Buck (1832-1894) of Killingly, Connecticut who later married George Washington Barber (1812-1887). Penned by Eunice, the inscription does not appear to be genealogically correct. Ellen's father was Benjamin Buck (1765-1857), rather than his brother Benoni (1769-1821). Both were brothers of Eunice's grandfather, Captain Joseph M. Buck (1767-1861), also mentioned in the inscription.
