Collection François Marcille (1790-1856) ; très probablement sa vente, Paris, 16 et 17 janvier 1857, lot 618 (comme 'Portrait d'homme de Velasquez (de Silva)').
Collection Eudoxe Marcille (1814-1890) jusque 1890 ; puis par descendance aux actuels propriétaires.

專家說明

Différentes attributions ont successivement été données à ce portrait d'homme. Une inscription au revers de notre tableau indique qu'Eudoxe Marcille le considérait comme de Diego Velázquez (1599-1660). Une autre attribution plus tardive suggère le peintre français Sébastien Bourdon (1616-1671).


This portrait of a man has been attributed to various artists. An inscription on the back of the painting indicates that Eudoxe Marcille believed the work to be by Diego Velázquez (1599-1660). A later attribution to the artist Sebastian Bourdon (1616-1671) has also been proposed.
