專家說明
The building seen here in the foreground, on its foundation of rock, is Sir William Hamilton's (1730-1803) Villa Emma, at Posillipo. Ambassador to Naples, he studied the volcanoes Vesuvius and Mount Etna, and indeed Villa Emma was positioned so that he could watch the eruptions of Vesuvius from across the bay. The Villa was named after his second wife, Emma, Lady Hamilton, who was famed as Horation Nelson's mistress, and George Romney's muse.
