A. LANGE & SÖHNE. AN EXTREMELY RARE 18K PINK GOLD LIMITED EDTION TOURBILLON WRISTWATCH WITH CHAIN FUSÉE, POWER RESERVE AND BRACELET

Offered for the first time at Christie's, the present timepiece is number 112 of a strictly limited edition of 150 examples of the Tourbillon 'Pour le Mérite'. Made for some of the firms most loyal clients, the model has only been seen twice at auction, testimony of its exclusivity.

According to A. Lange & Söhne, of the 150 examples produced, only 24 pieces were crafted in pink gold, 19 in white gold, 106 in yellow gold and 1 in stainless steel. Furthermore, the charismatic 18k pink gold bracelet was fitted to the present wristwatch at the request of the previous owner.

The Tourbillon "Pour le Mérite", another example of A. Lange & Söhne's complex and exclusive timepieces, incorporates a number of fascinating technical details never seen before in a wristwatch, most notably the going train driven with a chain fusée - The fusée and chain mechanism is one of the most effective methods of maintaining the accuracy of a watch by providing a constant amount of power to the escapement over the period that the mainspring unwinds from fully wound to unwound.

All parts of the watch are finished by hand and every surface is decorated. Consequently, the completion of each of these masterpieces requires several months.
