專家說明

Aside from the notable technical quality and design of this table there are various distinguishing details that are associated with the Chippendale workshop. Most distinctive, perhaps, is the manner of carving to the inset patera at the top of the leg, alongside the form of the leg itself, the complex and accomplished design of the mechanism and the use of the block foot, all of which were employed by Chippendale. Related 'artist's tables' of similar basic square form are recorded in the collections at Nostell Priory, Yorkshire, and Paxton House, Berwickshire, see C. Gilbert, The Life & Works of Thomas Chippendale, London, 1978, pls. 396-398.
