This large ‘phoenix-tail’ vase is finely decorated in iron-red enamel, with a remarkable retention of the gilt details. For two vases of similar shape and size, but with a more standard design of leaf bands and flower sprays, in the Christiansborg Palace, Denmark, see O.V.
