A rare find at auction, the reference 5450 in platinum is part of the Patek Philippe Advanced Research series of watches. Introduced in 2008 in a limited series of only 300 examples, the timepiece participates in the tradition of Patek Philippe to offer avant-garde components in order to enhance timekeeping accuracy and reliability of mechanical watches.

Fresh to the market and offered in un-worn sealed condition with its Certificate of Origine, the present wristwatch represents a rare opportunity for collectors to obtain an example of the 5450 reference in platinum. Furthermore, it is believed that only 29 examples came back to the market to date.

Reference 5450 was launched in 2008 and produced in a limited series of 300 pieces for collectors to see the details of the exclusive Pulsomax escapement, the escape wheel made of silicon-based Silinvar and the Spiromax balance spring also made of Silinvar. These three innovations have resulted in increased reliability without lubrication, rate accuracy optimization based on improved isochronism, increased efficiency of the Swiss lever escapement, and an increased power reserve. The result is greater amplitude stability and longer-term rate accuracy.
