Ce paravent est à rapprocher de l’oeuvre du laqueur japonais Katsu Hamanaka (1895-1982), comme le suggère Béatrice Prieur dans sa thèse de doctorat dédiée à la place de la laque dans l’entre-deux-guerres. Il s’apparente à la période abstraite de son travail, où les lignes géométriques se marient aux efets de matière des fonds.

The screen refers to the work of the Japanese lacquer Kastu Hamanaka (1895-1982), as suggested by Bétatrice Prieur in her thesis about lacquer during the interwar period. It shows a kinship with his abstract period, where he associated geometrical lines to the material efects of the lacquer of the backgrounds.
