The Most Honorable Order of the Bath is a British order of chivalry founded by George I, and is awarded for military service or more recently for exemplary civilian merit. The name reckons to an 8th century knighthood ceremony that included a ritualistic bath symbolic of purification. The medal depicts three crown and the words, ‘Tria juncta in uno’ (Three joined in one), which is speculated to refer to the three British isles.
