專家說明

Gathered on this unpublished sheet are sketches and ideas drawn by Arpino possibly in connection with the decoration of the great hall in the Palazzo dei Conservatori, Rome. The grotesque mascaron at right closely relates to those featured in the decorative frieze below his Fight between the Horatii and Curiatii. The veiled woman at left resembles the crying woman in the same fresco. The sequence of five figures in profile at the top does not connect with any known work by the artist.
