專家說明

The present lot depicts Käsebier’s fellow photographer Clarence White, and his family, at the home of F. Holland Day, in Maine. Between 1910 and 1915, White ran a photography school in Maine, where students, dressed in sailor suits, would benefit from White’s expertise and connections in the Photo-Secession movement. In all likelihood, this image, which depicts White, his wife Jane, and their three sons, Maynard, Clarence Jr., and Minor, was taken by Käsebier during a trip to the school as a visiting artist. The platinum printing enhances the light and warmth of the composition, resulting in an atmospheric radiance typical of Pictorialism.

Other prints of this image reside in institutional collections including the Museum of Fine Art, Houston; Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.; and The Museum of Modern Art, New York.
