Of curved outline, each upholstered in buttoned yellow silk, on brass paw caps and castors, redecorated to simulate rosewood
Each 30 ¾ in. (78 cm.) high; 46 in. (117 cm.) wide; 14 in. (36 cm.) deep

Either inherited or acquired by David R. Somervell and at Holly House, Montrose, and by descent until sold:
Holly House, Montrose and 19 India Street, Edinburgh - Two Scottish Collections; sold Christie's, South Kensington, 2 October 2002, lot 163.

This model of window seat and its possible Scottish origin, suggests a possible relationship to the seat furniture supplied by the Edinburgh firm of William Trotter. For a similar example of Grecian form, made by the firm, see Scone Palace; sold Christie's house sale, London, 24 May 2007, lot 33 (£8,400, including premium).
