ANONYMOUS (14TH-15TH CENTURY)

The commissioning of sutras in honor of one's family was a common practice in the Goryeo period and a means of accruing merit for the donor. The Flower Sutra is the central text for the Pure Land sect of Buddhism which invites rebirth in the Western Paradise of the Amitabha Buddha.
