Estate of Lucy Truman Aldrich, Providence, Rhode Island, acquired 1955.

專家說明

Although we were fortunate in receiving a number of very beautiful things from the collection of my aunt Lucy Aldrich, we did not obtain many pieces of furniture in the distribution of her estate in 1955. The principle reason for this was the fact that she left the house in Providence and much of the furniture in it to her younger brother, Winthrop W. Aldrich, who was Ambassador to the Court of Saint James at the time of her death. These fire screens were an exception. As usual with things we obtained from Aunt Lucy, their quality has stood up very well and we have enjoyed having them on either side of the mantel in the dining room at 65th Street.
