Anonymous sale; Sotheby's, London, 25 June 1924, lot 31, as ‘Attributed to Bronzino’, and as a ‘supposed Portrait of Francesco Ferrucci’ (£53 to Power). In the family of the present owners for two generations.
We are grateful to Peter Cannon-Brookes for proposing an attribution to Maso da San Friano, and dating the picture to the late 1560s.
