專家說明

The editorial introducing the first issue of the journal De Stijl, published in October 1917, clearly details its purpose: "to convince the general public to abandon old, individualist aesthetic principles in favor of 'universal' ones grounded on the authentic spirit of modern times" (Y.-A. Bois, "3 De Stijl Models," Inventing Abstraction, 1910-1925, exh. cat., The Museum of Modern Art, New York, 2015, p. 238). Huszar designed the cover image (fig. 1), of which the present work is a variation.
