專家說明
The Cabestan Winch Tourbillon Vertical is the outcome of various successive collaborations of some of today’s most innovative independent watchmakers including Vianney Halter, Jean-François Ruchonnet, Andreas Stricker and, Eric Coudray who was the final driving force to resolve the residual technical issues of one of modern horology’s most bold and ingenious timepieces.
The watch’s inspiration is originally derived from the yachting iconography and the concept of the “winch” is an allusion to the brand’s name Cabestan which means capstan in old French. The ingenuity of the design lays in the infusion of the age-old capstan and the historical fusée and chain system, both dating back many centuries, in a highly technical watch that is unique in its movement and visually exciting in its case. Perfected by Eric Coudray, the movement is a miniature reverse fusée system that perfectly compensates for the loss of torque in the mainspring to deliver a constant force to the vertical tourbillon. Time is displayed by two rotating drums for the hour and minutes display and another independent drum mounted on the tourbillon to display the seconds.
The present watch is a unique customized variation fitted with drums in 18k gold which confers a further elegance to this quintessential timepiece of the 21st century. Offered for the first time here at Christie's, the watch is furthermore in excellent condition.
