Brett Whiteley (1939-1992)

‘Some drawings are made in order for me to see something, some are made in order for me to show something, some are made to show off. The best of my drawing, I feel, has been made either in acute self-conciousness or in complete unconsciousness with no middle-ground.’ (Brett Whiteley in 162 Drawings Brett Whiteley 1960-8, (exhibition catalogue) Robin Gibson Gallery, Sydney, 1985, p.3)

This work will be included in the forthcoming Brett Whiteley catalogue raisonné being compiled by Kathie Sutherland.
