專家說明

Often referred amongst collectors as the “Pre-Daytona”, the 6238 was produced from the early 1960s to 1967. Last Rolex chronograph with a monochromatic dial and non-graduated bezel, the timepiece is considered the precursor of the Rolex Daytona and enjoys growing popularity amongst enthusiasts of the brand. With approximately 3,600 examples produced, the timepieces were cased in stainless steel, 14 karat and 18 karat gold and housed a Valjoux movement.

Typically seen with an outer tachometer scale on the dial, the present watch features a dial that was normally found on the earlier reference 6234 chronograph, which featured an outer minute track and no tachometer scale. The reference 6234 dials also featured the signature "Oyster Chronograph" and "Anti-Magnetic", and were changed for the reference 6238 to only read "Chronograph".
In excellent overall condition, the wristwatch can be considered as a rare example of the reference 6238 and key element of any vintage Rolex chronograph collections.
