According to the Archives of Vacheron Constantin, the present watch, a reference 4483, was manufactured in 1948.
It is an unusual and rare example of Vacheron Constantin's post war production, distinguished by the highly attractive design of the large case.
Based on the presentation inscription on its case back the watch was given by Aleksander Ranković to Cvetko Uzunovski (1912 – 1993), Macedonian communist, fighter in the International brigades during the Spanish civil war, Yugoslav Partisans' commander in Macedonia during World War II and prominent post-World War II Macedonian politician.
Aleksandar Ranković (1909 –1983) was a Yugoslav communist of Serb origin, considered to be the third most powerful man in Yugoslavia after Josip Broz Tito and Edvard Kardelj.
