專家說明

These striking candlesticks, conceived in the high rococo taste and of scrolling molded rocaille form, echo the spirit and sentiment of gilt-bronze examples of the period also found in the Eugenia Woodward Hitt Collection (such as lots 1264, 1280 and 1303). These Meissen models, brought to life with painted deutscheBlumen, capture the essence of engraved designs published by Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier in his Designs for Decorations of Rooms and Ornaments (see T. Strange, An Historical Guide to French Interiors, Furniture, Decoration, London, 1903, p. 270).
