專家說明

Still during his lifetime, a number of Rembrandt’s plates came into possession the print dealer Clement de Jonghe, including the plate of The Flight into Egypt: a Night Piece. The countermark PEH present on this sheet or the related watermark Fool's Cap with seven-pointed Collar (D.a.) occurs only on impressions of four of Rembrandt's plates, all of which date from the 1650s and were later owned by Clement de Jonghe. The impressions on this paper are all of good quality and with strong contrasts and were printed by de Jonghe, perhaps in the late 1650s or early 1660s, but in any event before his death in 1677.

For a detailed discussion of Clement de Jonghe's impressions and their watermarks, please see: Erik Hinterding, Rembrandt as an Etcher - Catalogue of Watermarks and Appendices, Ouderkerk aan den IJssel, 2006, vol. II, p. 417 ff.
