Two portrait miniatures of Maximilian I Joseph (1756-1825), King of Bavaria 1806-1825, wearing the red sash and breast-star of the Bavarian Order of St Hubert and the breast-star of the Bavarian Order of St George (Attributed to Jean-Pierre Thiboust, French, 1763-1824, and Bavarian School, circa 1810)
Both on ivory
Ovals, 73 and 40 mm. high, respectively, gilt-metal frames

The former with Gertrud Rudigier, Munich, as advertised in Weltkunst on the occasion of the 30th German Art and Antiques Fair, Munich (artist not indicated and size given as 83 x 68 mm.).

專家說明

Maximilian I Joseph was Duke of Zweibrücken from 1795 to 1799, Prince-Elector of Bavaria (as Maximilian IV Joseph) from 1799 to 1805 and King of Bavaria (as Maximilian I) from 1806 to 1825. He was married twice, firstly to Auguste Wilhelmine Marie of Hesse-Darmstadt, with whom he had five children, including his successor Ludwig I (see following lot), and secondly to Caroline Frederica Wilhelmine of Baden, with whom he had eight children.
