Each modelled seated on a rocaille puce and gilt condiment stand, Europe wearing a long yellow dress, holding a model of a church with further attributes at her feet including an owl and globe, Africa wearing an elephant mask, with a bird of prey, lion and a silvered cornucopia of corn, America wearing a feathered headdress and skirt, a quiver of arrows slung over her back and a man's head balanced under her right foot, Asia wearing a puce dress carrying an incense burner with a camel beneath her (some chipping, losses and restoration, Asia cracked and restuck across base)

Forming part of a rococo table centrepiece the Continents are a rare group as the factory favoured production of the Seasons, after Kändler's models for Meissen (see lot 61). An example of the model of Asia is illustrated by Kurt Röder and Michel Oppenheim, Das Höchster Porzellan, Mainz, 1930, pl. 26d, no. 158.
