專家說明

In 1919 Wadsworth ceased to be part of the London Group, of which he was a founder member. Wadsworth dedicated the second half of the the year to small scale works of the Black Country, and following the overwhelming success of these works at the Leicester Galleries exhibition in 1920 his work was published by Ovid Press. The same year Wadsworth contributed to Wyndham Lewis's Group X exhibition at the Mansard Gallery; the nine members of the short lived group included William Roberts, Frank Dobson, Charles Ginner and John Turnbull.

Alec G. Walker was part of the Vorticist revival, Group X, and was a frequent visitor to Wadsworth’s studio.

Another work by Wadsworth from Walker's collection, Ladle Slag Round Oak II, was sold in these Rooms on 12 October 2011, lot 4.

We are very grateful to Dr Jonathan Black for his assistance in preparing this catalogue entry.
