專家說明
Clérisseau depicted the Arch of Titus and the Forum of Nerva in Rome several times. Another pair, showing the monuments from the same angle but with a different arrangement of figures, is in the collection of the Marquess of Linlithgow, Hopetoun House (B. Skinner, 'Shorter Notice: Nineteen Drawings by C.L. Clérisseau', Burlington Magazine, CV, 1963, p. 162, fig. 39). Two further drawings showing the same monuments, one with the Arch of Titus dated 1782, are in the Hermitage, Saint Petersburg (inv. 16925 and 2477; V. Chevtchenko et al., Charles-Louis Clérisseau (1721-1820): Dessins du musée de l'Ermitage Saint-Pétersbourg, exh. cat., Paris, Louvre and Saint Petersburg, Hermitage, 1995-96, nos. 29 and 54).
