Studio of Quentin Metsys (Leuven 1466-1530 Antwerp)

The present work is based on a lost original by Quentin Metsys.
A dendrochronological study carried out in 2014 by Ian Tyers has demonstrated that the present Baltic oak panel was likely felled and painted between c. 1474 and c. 1506, placing its execution firmly within Metsys' lifetime.
