The Cosmograph Daytona, introduced in 1963, was initially engineered to meet the demand for reliability and precision of racing drivers. A special edition, nicknamed beach, was created in 2002 as an allusion to the legendary Daytona Beach speed races.

Made of turquoise, green chalcedony as well as yellow and pink mother-of-pearl, this edition demonstrated Rolex's ability to display signs of eccentricity, while staying true to its origins.
