LI JIN (B. 1958)

In The Bountiful Harvest, Li Jin depicts vegetables, fish and meat, and completes his composition with calligraphy of the lyrics of a song. Food represents fundamental human needs; while the lyrics, an extract from the popular and clich?d song in China named xiao ping guo (small apple), represent the most banal kind of spiritual need of the public. By portraying the ordinary things in his daily life, Li explores the relationship between the basic elements of human existence in a humorous manner.
