專家說明
According to the Archives of Audemars Piguet, the present watch was sold to their retailer E. Gübelin in Lucerne in 1924.
It is one of Audemars Piguet's exceedingly rare oversized timepieces, further distinguished by the combination of the perpetual calendar and split seconds chronograph mechanisms. The most notable characteristics are the oversized day and date subsidiary dials, a feature hardly seen in any other watches from the period, rendering the watch a very unique look. It can safely be assumed that it was made by special order for a distinguished client of E. Gübelin, Audemars Piguet's celebrated retailer in Lucerne.
The combination of these rare and sought after features and the very appealing original overall condition render it a fine trophy for the collector of rare and unusual timepieces.
E. Gübelin was founded in 1854 and has always been a family enterprise. Located in Lucerne, Switzerland, the renowned company has been manufacturing and retailing superior quality watches and clocks ever since. One of Audemars Piguet's most important clients in the first quarter of the 20th century, watches supplied to them were bearing exclusively the Gübelin signature. This at the time common practice had been agreed by contract, stipulating the omitting of Audemars Piguet's signature, with the exception of the serial numbers.
