專家說明

Henri-Alfred-Marie Jacquemart (1824-1896) was formally trained at L'Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and became a frequent participant in the Paris Salons between 1847 and 1879. Primarily an exhibitor of animal studies and groups, the artist was awarded honours at the 1857 and 1865 Salons and the Chevalier de la Légion d' Honneur in 1870. Jacquemart also secured several civil commissions for equestrian groups, notably for l'Hôtel de Ville de Compiègne and the Fontaine St. Michel in Paris. A similar example cast by A. Durenne is illustrated in Durenne's 1889 catalogue Fonte der Fer, A. Durenne, Maitre de Forges. A similar pair of dogs, but in cast-iron and of 19th century date, also after the models by Jacquemart were sold Christie's, Dunsborough Park, 19-20 June, 2013, first day, lot 30 (£43,750).
