There is a typed label on the stretcher identifying the sitter ('This is a Portrait of WILLIAM HENRY KER son of WIlliam Wemyss Ker and his first wife née Sarah Simons. Born at Singapore about 7th December, 1837. Died 31st January, 1864.').
