專家說明

These palm leaf mirrors recall the 1750s' work of the architect John Vardy (1718 -1765) for the 1st Earl Spencer's mansion in St James's in London. In addition to the splendid Palm Room, Vardy introduced a triumphal palm screen in the bedroom apartment at Spencer House. It is thought that John Vardy's brother, the carver & gilder Thomas Vardy (d. 1788) of Park Street, was responsible for the execution of the Palm Room furnishings.
