William Gould & Son traded from 78 Grace Church Street, London, as carvers, gilders and as a looking glass manufactory from 1781-1840. The business was a substantial one and insurance cover on stock and utensils in 1812 amounted to £1,500 (C. Gilbert, Dictionary of English Furniture Makers 1660-1840, London, 1986, p. 360).
