Engraved throughout with numerous plates, portraits, illustrations, head- and tailpieces, 6 lists of subscribers, including those in Vienna and Berlin. (A little offsetting and very occasional spotting.) Contemporary red morocco, wide border round sides composed of small tools, black and light brown lettering and numbering pieces, spines gilt in compartments (spines faded and rubbed, head-caps worn). Provenance: Arthur C. Newsome (bookplate) –Spottiswoode Library, Cornwall (pencilled inscription on an endpaper) – H.G.W. Herron (signature dated 1907). Rothschild 1546.
