The present model was produced in tribute to Rubens Barrichello (May 23, 1972), a Brazilian Formula 1 race car driver.

This example is number 99 in a limited series of 500 pieces.

The present model was produced in tribute to Rubens Barrichello (May 23, 1972), a Brazillian Formula 1 race car driver. This example is number 99 in a limited series of 500 pieces.

This present lot was released in honour of the famous Formula 1 Brazilian race car driver Rubens Barrichello and its visual characteristics pay a carefully considered homage to the world of high performance high speed engines - the case back is engraved with a steering wheel, the subdial hands represent the colours of the Brazilian flag, the watch strap uses non-slip leather typically found on race car seats, the winding crown is styled like a gear cog, lugs are reminiscent of accelerator pedals and the bezel features engine screws. The Barrichello series had such an avid following amongst horology collectors that Audemars Piguet released three limited edition versions of the Royal Oak Rubens Barrichello.
