專家說明

The present work depicts one of the most famous emblems of the city of Vernon, France. Built in the 12th century, the Red Bridge features a mill dating to the 1500s, which is one of the last five mills on the Seine still in operation. In addition to its historic significance, the location's picturesque beauty has long been an inspiration for Impressionist artists. Among the many renowned works that depict this setting is Claude Monet's Houses on the Old Bridge at Vernon, painted in 1883 and in the collection of the New Orleans Museum of Art, New Orleans, Louisiana.

This painting will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné being compiled by Patrick Bertrand.
