專家說明

Ango's drawing is related to a painting by Robert which was exhibited at the Salon of 1767, now in the Hermitage, St. Petersburg, along with its pendant, La villa Madame (Valence, op. cit., pp. 170-71, no. 40; and pp. 172-73, no. 41). There are slight differences between Ango's drawing and Robert's painting - notably in the placement of figures and some architectural details - which suggests that Ango's drawing is after a lost preparatory drawing by Robert.

Robert's drawing was made directly on the backing board of what must be the orginal mount (and not the verso of Ango's drawing). He inscribed the entire composition in a hastily drawn lunette.
