The Girard-Perregaux USA-76 Limited Edition watch was released to commemorate the brand's partnership with BMW Oracle Racing for the 32nd Edition of the America's Cup in 2007, and was designed with this theme in mind. All of the world time cities are designated in white, however, as the host city for this particular race, Valencia, Spain, is in red. The 30 minute register also indicates the first five minutes in blue, and the next five in red as a nod to the sailing race. These five and ten minute intervals are important in racing, as warning shots are fired at ten minutes and five minutes prior to the start of the race. They indicate, at 10 minutes, the last opportunity for racing crews to clear any equipment and provide any last-minute information to the team, and at 5 minutes, the point at which no outside assistance is allowed before the start of the race.
