Charles-Joseph Natoire (Nîmes 1700-1777 Castel Gandolfo)
The Virgin and Child with attending angels
oil on canvas, unframed
49¾ x 38 in. (126.3 x 96.5 cm.)

André Corsi, Jas de Bouffan, Aix-en-Provence, and by inheritance to his daughter-in-law, from whom acquired by the present owner.

專家說明

On the basis of a photograph, Susanna Caviglia has questioned the attribution to Natoire. Jas de Bouffan was Paul Cézanne’s family home on the outskirts of Aix-en-Provence and where the artist worked for four decades. The Corsi family bought the estate, with the studio of Cézanne almost untouched, directly from the painter on his mother’s death. It is unclear as to whether this picture was part of the original decoration for Jas de Bouffan, or if it came from the Corsi family.
