With Rolex International Service Guarantee and a letter dated 15 July 2010 confirming that the present watch was supplied to Her Majesty's Dockyard Chatham on 11 March 1976.
This watch is an outstanding example of a military reference 5513, impressing by its beautiful and original dial. Furthermore, both the reference and serial numbers finely engraved between the lugs are clearly legible and proof of the beautiful life the watch has enjoyed for the last decades. Finding "close to perfect" examples are today hard finds, therefore the present example offered here must be considered as a truly rare opportunity to acquire this legendary reference.
Furthermore, all key elements a demanding and savvy Rolex connoisseur would expect to see are united in this example; fixed bar lugs, large "sword" hands, the international symbol for Tritium encircled "T" on the dial, the unique bezel with sixty minute markers (rather than only the first fifteen minutes), the hack feature, the outside of the case back is marked with the military broad arrow sign, Ministry of Defense issue number and unit number and furthermore the inside of the case back repeated the serial number which is commonly only found between the lugs.
The outside of the case back of the present watch is engraved with the following markings:
0552 for British Ministry of Defense, 923-7697 for the NATO code, the Broad Arrow characterizing all watches owned by the British Army, the issue number 538 and issue year 76.
For another example of a military Ref. 5513 see Rolex Submariner History by Franca & Guido Mondani and Lele Ravagnani, p.70.
