專家說明

During the Second World War the Bartlett School of Architecture was evacuated to Cambridge and installed at St. Catherine's College. Professor Richardson, who had also left London for the duration, spent his week days in Cambridge and his weekends at home in Ampthill. In 1940 he was elected an Honorary Fellow of St. Catherine's and became the unofficial architect to the college.
Professor Richardson's reputation meant that he was asked to work on other college projects. Richardson and Houfe worked on various schemes for Christ's College including in 1948 an extension to the college, as well as designing the Chancellor's Buildings and two years later the Memorial Building.

We are grateful to John Harris and Charles Hind for their assistance with cataloguing the group of architectural drawings.
