David Laing (London 1774 - 1856)

In 1810 Laing was appointed Surveyor to the Customs and almost immediately began work designing a new Customs House at Plymouth. The finished building was favourably received and in 1812, he was commissioned to rebuild the London Customs House which was completed in 1817.
