專家說明
Boldre Rectory, or Vicar's Hill as it was also known, was formerly the home of the Rev. William Gilpin (1724-1804), the artist and promoter of the Picturesque Movement. The building still exists, although it now forms the central core of a much larger structure. The house was substantially extended in the 19th and 20th Centuries.
We are grateful to Stephen Astley, Helen Dorey and Susan Palmer and the rest of the team at the Sir John Soane's Museum, London for all their assistance with the group of 18th and 19th century architectural drawings and designs.
